Now Thailand has decided to go ahead with the plan itself, with the aim of reducing 400, 000 lai (0.16 hectares) of rubber forest, much larger than previous attempts by the three countries.
By the end of April, Thailand had already cut 150, 000 baht of rubber, which it had planned to subsidise by 10, 000 baht for each cut (subsidies are being verified).
By the end of the year, the remaining 250,000 pieces of rubber will be cut down. The rate of deforestation depends on how quickly the cabinet approves funding.
